Governor Evers Proclaims June 1–7 as Medicare Fraud Prevention Week

Governor Tony Evers has proclaimed June 1–7, 2026, as Medicare Fraud Prevention Week in Wisconsin, highlighting the importance of protecting people with Medicare from fraud, errors, and abuse within the Medicare system.

“This observance helps shine a spotlight on the ongoing need to educate Medicare beneficiaries, caregivers, and professionals about how to prevent scams, identify suspicious activity, and report concerns. By working together, we can help protect both individuals and the integrity of the Medicare program,” said Ingrid Kundinger, Wisconsin Senior Medicare Patrol Program Director. 
The Wisconsin Senior Medicare Patrol provides Medicare beneficiaries, their caregivers, and families with the information needed to:

• Protect themselves from Medicare fraud, errors, and abuse.
• Detect potential fraud, errors, and abuse.
• Report concerns.

The Senior Medicare Patrol works closely with SHIP. The proclamation highlights the importance of both programs in providing Medicare "education, intervention, and prevention."
